FMT Octopus - How it works
FMT Octopus™ is a middleware plug-in that wraps itself around an Internet application. It empowers organisations to measure, manage and control both application and user behaviour. Using a patented preprocessing filter, FMT Octopus examines a browser request both before and after it enters an application. This allows organisations to access all data contained in every request (including IP address, browser information and more). Combined with other information (such as geo location lookups, blacklists and customer past behaviour), FMT Octopus makes a real-time decision. For example, it can deny a request to access an application, send an alert, ask for additional authentication, create a fraud case, alter branding and advertising elements or simply allow a transaction to progress. By tapping into additional data sources from the front end, it makes better decisions about when users can access an application and the ways they can use it. Note that all of this is possible without unnecessarily intruding on customers or making any application code changes. Using a graphical rules engine, FMT Octopus can limit, add or secure application features. And, just as easily as modifications are activated, they can be turned off. All without needing to shut down a server. It uses predefined business policies and rules that are published in the same application server that houses FMT Octopus. From the infrastructure, FMT Octopus executes across an enterprise with no need to call out to additional hardware or servers. Beyond the solution's console appliance, additional hardware is not required. The following provides a high-level, simplified FMT Octopus architecture diagram.
The rules engine has a drag-and-drop interface so there's no need to learn a programming language. Simply move a rule (such as an SMS alert) onto the canvas, connect it to your application and you're done. Full training for certified users takes just three days. Or, you can take advantage of a managed service option. |
